This family orientated fun day will feature live Irish Music, Dancing, Comedy, Food, Drink and plenty of Craic.
Highlights include Celtic Rock band 'The Rossoneri' www.therossoneri.co.uk, traditional Irish Music sessions from Tara O'Carolan, Young Gifted & Green and a host of special guest musicians.
Comedy performances from finalists in this years Manchester Irish Comedian of the Year, acoustic sets from finalists in ygg unsigned.
Set dancing displays from 'Sean Dempsey Set dancers', Irish Dancing displays from 'Young, Gifted & Green' , Keegan Kennedy and Justine Ward Mallinson.
Next big performance — Barleycorn, West Didsbury
Second full Rossoneri gig at Barleycorn on Barlow Moor Road, West Didsbury, on Saturday 27th January, at 9pm. Free entry for two 45 minutes sets, and the infamous Buenos Aires audience participation. Also playing the night before (26th) at Old House at Home on Braemar Road in Fallowfield, 9pm start.
Recent performance — EXR JAM at Revise, Chorlton
Four of The Rossoneri played in Chorlton at Revise, Wilbraham Road, on Sunday 7nd January, at the new EXR Live Music Jam. Every Sunday afternoon, there is a free jam where all singers and musicians are welcome to join in the the experienced house musicians. Blues, rock, jazz, folk and funk, plus any other style, from 2pm-6pm.
Levenshulme Festival — BBC Radio Manchester
The Rossoneri had a very busy weekend at the start of the Levenshulme Festival this year. They played at the end of the opening night (Friday 20 October) at M19 Bar at the AcousticFest event for Oxjam. Part of that broadcast included an interview with Gail Sullivan for BBC Radio Manchester. Two of their songs were in the background during an interview with Native State afterwards as well.
The following two nights were spent playing with Manchester musician's collective Extraordinary Rendition at the Carlton Club (Saturday 21) as part of a variety of live music night, (funk, jazz, reggae, rock, Irish), then on Sunday 22 The Rossoneri played their own full length gig at Revise in Chorlton.
If that wasn't enough, the band returned to Levenshulme to the reknown Packhorse venue on Monday 23 to open and close the Irish night in the Levenshulme Festival. This enjoyable night was entirely broadcast on BBC Radio Manchester, and featured Dezi Donnelly, Keegan Kennedy's School of Irish Dancers, Tara O'Carolan's band and more local Irish acts, plus interviews from Eve and Ashley from the Citizen Manchester - Irish BBC show.
Recent charity performance — OXJAM at Revise, Chorlton
Extraordinary Rendition are hosting a charity gig in aid of Oxjam for Oxfam. At Revise, Wilbraham Road, on Sunday 15nd October, at 8pm. Free entry to see James Walker, Annette Gregory-King from EXR and The Rossoneri. See oxfam.org.uk/oxjam (opens in new window).
Manchester:Peripheral — The Folk Songs Project
The Rossoneri are part of Futuresonic's exhibition called Manchester:Peripheral, which gives people an opportunity to experience the sounds out and about Greater Manchester, including bird song, people chatting about days gone by, local musicians and the sounds of recreational activities. It is live at The Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester from 20-29 July (Urban Play, Off The Map), and online at www.manchesterperipheral.com to stay. Last school visit
Swinton Globe, performance with pupils from primary schools in Salford, with MAPAS. Monday 27th March 2006. Teaching folk music as part of The Recorder Day on Saturday 25th March, then perform just taught pieces with pupils to parents.
